Just when I think it couldn’t get any crazier out there, it somehow does. Nearly each day something happens that utterly surprises me. In fact, I have even done some really crazy things myself lately. I am not going to rat myself out. Let’s just say I seem to be more forgetful lately – a LOT more forgetful.
Some might say this craziness is from this year-long Covid weirdness that has brought on all sorts of unprecedented circumstances and situations. Others might suggest the craziness has been brought on by the unsettled, restless times we seem to be living in. Yet others would tell us that it is the combination of both along with where the world was headed before the other two hit. It’s the proverbial tsunami of the perfect storm of all of this intersecting at the same time. Yet, I am still hopeful. I still believe that God is working in all of this for good.
We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!
But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.
1 Corinthians 13:12-13 MSG
We don’t yet know where all of this will land. We don’t yet know how all of this will be worked out for the glory of God. But, friends, here is what I do know. We must lean heavily into being kind. We, as Christ followers, are called to trust unswervingly in God and love extravagantly! God will lead us out of this craziness and turmoil. As the church and as Christians, we have such a wonderful opportunity before us. We can demonstrate to the world this extravagant love as we wait for the fog to clear and the sun to shine again. We must not be ones that are contributing to the unkindness, hypocrisy, or hate. Let’s rise above this craziness, take advantage of the opportunity that has been gifted to us, and demonstrate extravagant love to the world!
